![]() There is lots of different magic, and all are good, so I'd look into it if you want to play a different kind of character. You can clear around 20 grouped units in less than a second on sieges, and on the big battles you can mind control the enemies leader or cavalry to make them turn around and kill their own troops, or flank and turn the archers. I would say both are good, but standard magic is so overpowered if you specialise into it. Keep in mind that all magic is altered throwing weapons (MP regens, so it you just use magic missiles it's like infinite high velocity throwing knives, fireballs are thrown and explode on impact). Normal magic isn't good or evil and is used by both sides (but the big mage faction is good) and it allows you to buy new spells at certain cities, which can range from a little magic missile doing to huge fireballs/AOE slows. It's basically a way of getting new, different troops. Necromancy is purely passive, and it allows for you to gain troops every battle by reanimating corpses to get skeletons, or use their souls to form shades.
